Evan Engle didn’t allow a single run against Euclid, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Elyria Pioneers Varsity to a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. Chris Willis led Elyria Pioneers Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-3 at the plate. Willis drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the fourth. In the first inning, Elyria Pioneers Varsity got their offense started. Michael Knapp drew a walk, scoring one run.
Elyria Pioneers Varsity put up six runs in the fourth inning. Elyria Pioneers Varsity’s offense in the inning came from singles by Hunter Osborne and Zach Schuster and a double by Willis. One bright spot for Euclid was a single by M Haynes in the first inning.
Engle pitched Elyria Pioneers Varsity to victory. He allowed three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one. C Rodgers took the loss for Euclid. He went four innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits and striking out four. Elyria Pioneers Varsity collected nine hits on the day. Willis, Gage Barbee, and Osborne all managed multiple hits for Elyria Pioneers Varsity. Willis led Elyria Pioneers Varsity with three hits in three at bats. Elyria Pioneers Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Gage Norris had the most chances in the field with 11. Haynes went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Euclid in hits.
